Congrats to everyone who's submitted a work and good luck to all still working! Assignments are due at 11:59pm EDT on Saturday 23 May, and here's a countdown.

Betas
Use this post to volunteer to give feedback on someone's work, or to find someone who can give feedback on yours!

If you can beta podfic, art, or fic, please comment with:

-your AO3 name (especially if signed up)
-what media you can give feedback on

Getting your work checked by someone else is not required in this exchange. However, it is often helpful. Thank you very much to all beta volunteers.

I hope everyone's assignments are going well.

If you are willing to give feedback on someone's draft work, please comment here.

Some possible information to include in your comment:
  • Your AO3 name, especially if you're signed up to the challenge

  • Which media you will comment on, out of art, podfic, and fic, and to what level of detail - ie, just spelling and grammar, or more?

  • Your general availability and time requirements

  • Types of document you can view and comment on

  • Squicks and content you don't want to give feedback on

  • How you prefer to be contacted.

Getting constructive criticism on your work before it is given as a gift is not mandatory in this exchange, but it is encouraged.

This post is also on LJ.

Hello!

Hope you're enjoying your assignment. Barring any pinch hits, this should be the last post from me for a little while.

Volunteer to be a Beta

If you can offer feedback on fic, art, or podfic at the draft stage, please comment here or on LJ. The following information is necessary:
  • What media you can give feedback on

  • Your AO3 name, if it's different from the name you're using to comment with, and you've signed up to this year's exchange

  • How to contact you.

Additionally, the following information may be useful:
  • Any content you will not beta, or warnings you would like before opening a file

  • Things you're particularly interested in (themes, tropes, gender configurations for romance/sex)

  • When you are or aren't available

  • Your preferred file formats.

If you can check spelling or tell someone what confused you or what you liked about a story or piece of art, or if you can give technical suggestions to improve an artwork or a podfic, please consider volunteering! Betas are awesome. Thank you.

It is not mandatory to get your work beta-checked. It is merely very much encouraged. If you're having trouble finding a beta, please talk to me, Morbane, and I'll try to help.

Please don't post openly about what you're creating & who for - but it is fine to discuss this privately with your beta.

Admin note #1: Sign-ups are open for just under 3 more days. I will close them at approx 6pm on Thurs 16th April in my time zone, NZST. Time in your time zone is here, and there's a 'countdown' button in the 'Event actions' menu to the right. You can add, edit, or delete a sign-up until that time.

Admin note #2: I closed sign-ups briefly and ran matching, just to see how things were shaking out. Everyone has someone who can create a gift for them. Two people have no one they can write, edit, or record for. I'm not too worried, because we have 3 more days of sign-ups, but if the situation is the same when sign-ups close, I'll talk to the relevant people before I proceed with assignments. Everyone needs a potential assignment before I will send assignments out.

Admin note #3: Huzzah for the number of sign-ups so far! I am excited to see new people - welcome - and to see people returning - welcome back! And to those who have signed up or pinch hit or shown interest before, but aren't around for this round - thank you for your interest at the time, and best wishes now.

Pinch Hitters
If you are interested in pinch hitting for this exchange, please email jukebox.mod@gmail.com with your AO3 name, the media (fic/art/podfic) you can pinch hit for, and your preferred email address IF it's different to the one you're contacting me on.

Beta readers/feedback-givers
If you are willing to look over the gift someone has created before it goes live and give them feedback on what works and doesn't work for you, checking spelling, etc, please comment to THIS POST or to the equivalent beta post on LJ. Please indicate some way for the creator to contact you, any further information they need to know (such as "I will not read a story over 5k" / "I cannot look at art that depicts X" / "I'm busy in the last two weeks before deadline"), and your AO3 name if you are also signing up for the challenge.

If you are willing to be contacted about editing/beta-reading someone's story, please comment to this post or its LiveJournal equivalent with your AO3 name and some way of contacting you.

Writers, please get your stories checked over before submitting them.

(This should be the last post for a while).

For volunteers
If you think you might be up for beta-reading someone's fic during the writing process, please comment here with an email address. If you are signed up to the challenge, please also give me your AO3 name to ensure I don't send you details about a fic that's meant to be your gift.

Comments are screened.

You will occasionally receive emails from me with fic lengths and details. If you see one you have interest in and time for, just reply to my email, and I'll put you in touch with the writer.

For writers
If you have a fic that needs a beta, please email the mod (jukebox.mod, gmail) to request a beta reader. The details will be sent out to a list and you will be put in contact with anyone who volunteers.

Please include these details:
-The AO3 name of the recipient
-The song you're writing for
-The length of the fic.

Possible optional details:
-Genre
-A brief summary
-Amount of sexual content or violence; similar things that might be difficult for readers (at your discretion)
-Type of beta-reading you require (just SPAG; checking a particular plot point, etc).
