Were the things he did "that have no name" really all that bad, or is he just kind of naive? Is his situation really as bad as he says, or does he maybe kind of like what she's making him do even as he is lamenting his fate? Is she really just playing with him, or does she love him back in her own way? Why is the law after them?

What did "you" do to bring down the narrator's wrath? The narrator seems to care about "you" but is apparently going to kill them anyway. Why? Is there anything the "you" character can do to save themself? Might the narrator have a last minute change of heart or will it go through with the killing? How much will either party regret their actions? Has something like this happened before?

I like this version of the song because it is less rapey than the traditional version, with the battle of magic treated as foreplay instead of as the smith forcing himself on the woman against her will. What happens after the two of them get married? Do they use magic in all aspects of their life together, or only in their sex-life? If they decide to have kids, does the woman lay eggs, or tell her husband to become a seahorse, or anything else to avoid the inconveniences of a human pregnancy? Do the children inherit their parents' powers? Do the neighbors just go, "oh god, not again!" and try to ignore all the shape-shifting weirdness whenever they start hearing random animal noises or whatever from next door?
