[personal profile] minutia_r posting in [community profile] jukebox_fest
Creator names are now revealed at the Jukebox 2022 collection! Thank you from us mods to everyone who prompted or promoted or perused or took pinch hits, everyone who created or commented, and everyone who took part in other ways such as offering beta services.

You are now welcome to talk about what you made. Although we ask participants not to remove gifts, you are welcome to post your work to other platforms now that the anonymous period is over. On the recipient side, you may want to download and save gifts.

If you have any feedback on this round, please feel free to share it. The collection remains open for late treats.

On a personal note, from me (Minutia) specifically, thank you to everyone for making my first time modding this exchange go so smoothly, and especially to my co-mod Morbane for so patiently showing me the ropes.

There will probably be a 2023 round of Jukebox. But there might be something sooner than that; we're considering some kind of song-based fest in between rounds. Keep an ear out! I hope that within the week I'll have a post up here to gauge general interest in a fest, as well as to find out what shape the fest should take to be of most interest to the community.

Hooray! I enjoyed this exchange a lot, and really appreciate the effort from the mods in running it.

I think it was mentioned in previous posts that there is a lot of effort that goes into creating the playlists/tables of nominations. I wonder if there might be things the participants could do to help ease the workload? For instance, we currently each leave a comment on DW with our nominations. Perhaps instead, we could fill out a Google Form with fields for title, artist, song/music video, YouTube link, lyrics link. This could all get auto-collated into a Google Sheet, which with some creative formulas should be able to create the necessary tables, and possibly even the YouTube playlist. (If it sounds useful, I'd be happy to have a go at setting this up.)

Not sure if that's a helpful suggestion. Either way, thanks again for running a great exchange!

These are excellent thoughts. When I first started running Jukebox in 2013, it was smaller, and I also got the impression (which hasn't entirely abated) that people were wary of Google forms/docs/etc. Having to take part in an exchange on 3+ platforms is a bit of a burden. But it might be possible to do a hybrid model where people who're comfortable with it submit via Google forms.

In the last few years my process has been to manually, unnecessarily-painfully collect DW comment information into an Excel spreadsheet, then use a primitive method to turn the Excel spreadsheet into an HTML table. It's definitely time to revisit that - especially because I tried to move to Google Sheets, had a really frustrating experience with exporting links, and then recoiled: but maybe it was operator error.

I don't know Excel formulas at all. I'm super proud of myself when I can make one cell refer to another cell. You don't want to look at my table code, truly you don't.

So what I'm saying is there's definitely room and opportunity to make it more efficient. :D

Thank you especially from me! Some of my thanks are already contained in the above post, but I want to emphasize them. I love this exchange and I'm so happy and grateful people continue to embark on this experiment.

I was facing burnout last year, so this round likely would not have happened without Minutia_R's effort. Minutia, I really appreciate you joining in, asking thoughtful questions, being patient with the idiosyncrasies that come from established routine, and contributing insightfully at points of ambiguity.

Thank you both for moderating this! It is my favorite exchange (and the only one I've managed to keep up with as my creative energy and fandom interests have fluctuated wildly over the past few years) so I was very happy to see it come back this year. As per usual I went a little insane while writing mine (even more than usual, really) but I appreciate having the space to do that and also your patience with my last-minute "oh no what if I need an extension in order to get this monstrosity posted?" question. So many thanks to Morbane for running this for years, and to Minutia for making it possible this year and also getting me into it in the first place!

I'm also very :eyes emoji: at the idea of some kind of song fest later in the year, excited to see what that's about!
