Hi, translation and explanation for the first Hebrew song, including link:

“Be quite” by Riki Gal, link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hcEPikUpHI

Be still , now everything is fine
Even the suffocation will be easier to bear
We are not in hell , and definitely not in heaven
This is home, and we have none to spare

Be quite now, as if you are perfect
As if you are protected by the very air
As if all your woes have been crystallize into beauty
Like roses growing from a dusty land .

Be quite now, how much longer can you reveal yourself
exposing your vulnerability without fear of humiliation
As vulnerability itself is a form of power
As it tranquility itself is a panic-stricken beach.

This is my attempt at a verbal translation of this song. I do not think it’s sufficient so I’m adding an explanation:

This s song about a woman who is attempting to comfort her friend, by telling her that there is no choice but to accept the reality ; And that even if our reality is far from perfect, it is not always so terrible as well. We are not in paradise , however – we are also not in hell.

She goes on an absolve her friend from blame: “you can be quiet, because even if you have a fault, it does not matter. You can already forget it. You are safe and protected, even by the very air.

Than she attempts to give her friends suffering some meaning:” Look, your troubles are already beginning to take shape and beauty. That is - what has caused you pain slowly becomes something else, a work of art that can touch others.

This song is for anyone once felt different , unusual , unnecessary , unneeded. It’s for whoever full of pain and rage. It’s for anyone who was hurt, humiliated and terrified. It’s telling us: In your pain and vulnerability there is strength – you are not weak, you are strong. You are not ugly – you are beautiful. Do not loose hope.
