Hello all,
I plan to run Jukebox again in 2014. I don't, however, want to run it so late in the year. I have mocked up two possible schedules. I'm trying to avoid clashing with Rarewomen, Shipswap, Not Prime Time, the Exchange at Fic Corner, Rare Pair Fest, and Purimgifts, which are the multi-fandom exchanges that I'm most aware of.
If you are interested in taking part in Jukebox, please comment to let me know how these draft schedules work for you.
Schedule 1
February-March-April (writing between mid March and late April)
Nominations: Sun 23 February - Sun 2 March inclusive
Signups: Wednesday 5 March to Wednesday 12 March inclusive
Assignments out by: Friday 14 March
Assignments due: Thursday 24 April
Stories revealed: Sunday 27 April
Authors revealed: Sunday 4 May
Schedule 2
April-May-June (writing between early May and mid June)
Nominations: Sun 20 April to Sun 27 April inclusive
Signups: Wednesday 30 April to Wednesday 7 May inclusive
Assignments out by: Friday 9 May
Assignments due: Thursday 19 June
Stories revealed: Sunday 22 June
Authors revealed: Sunday 29 June
Which of the proposed schedules would make it more convenient for you to participate in Jukebox this year? (Please reply to this post to answer...)
-Schedule 1 (Feb-Mar-Apr)
-Schedule 2 (Apr-May-June)
-One of the above - but only if you change it in ______ way
-Both
-Neither
Further: In 2013, only fanfiction was included in the exchange. I'm also curious to know if people might want to offer or request art. (If not many people comment to show interest in art options, the exchange will stay fic-only.)
Which categories of media would you be interested in giving and requesting for this exchange? (Please indicate all that apply when you comment)
-I would request fic
-I would offer fic
-I would request art
-I would offer art
Please feel free to add any further thoughts in the comments. Your mod offers her apologies for being a cheapskate who a) doesn't want to pay Dreamwidth so that she can make a poll with ticky options and b) doesn't want to have a poll on LJ but not on DW.

Date: 2014-01-01 07:04 am (UTC)I would probably only offer fic, but I might also treat art to people who were open to it if I had the time.
I would definitely request fic, and might or might not request art.

Date: 2014-01-01 07:20 am (UTC)I'd only offer fic, and probably would just request fic, but I might be open to requesting art too, depending on what I request.

Date: 2014-01-01 11:04 am (UTC)However, as a reader of the challenge, have you thought about eliminating the anon period? I've been wondering if a challenge like this, that doesn't really have a built-in audience, really benefits from an anon period -- it seems like it might get more response and be less stressful for participants if they could talk up/ talk about their stories immediately after posting.
Just a thought and obviously just my opinion but it might be worth taking the temperature of potential participants re: this issue.

Date: 2014-01-01 08:16 pm (UTC)The anon period was definitely too long last year. It was partly because of my personal commitments around that time, but I noticed people getting a little impatient about not being able to share what they'd done and I can sympathize with that.

Date: 2014-01-01 02:51 pm (UTC)Schedule 1 works best for me, and I'd request/give fic.
Also, I agree with

Date: 2014-01-02 02:39 am (UTC)FWIW I didn't mind the anon period, and in fact I kind of like having it there, but that's probably because I'm not given to promoting my fics on my DW or Tumblr so I don't get impatient.

Date: 2014-01-02 05:31 am (UTC)I like either schedule with a slight preference for schedule 1 as I think it falls during a vacation for me, but that's not a dealbreaker so either really works overall.
Though, would it be at all possible to have a weekend for the due date? Even if it's due Saturday/reveals Sunday? I realise that part of the reason for reveals being on a weekend is reading time, of course, but I really like being able to upload on a weekend if I can.
I can't offer or request art as I'm only able to give fic and I prefer to get what I can give.
So I would request and offer fic to answer that question directly.
I actually prefer anon periods in exchanges so I vote for keeping that in.

Date: 2014-01-02 08:47 pm (UTC)My reasoning in setting it mid-week is that I'm twelve to eighteen hours ahead of most of my participants, and it's easier for me to scramble for pinch hits - and then read stories - over my weekend, even though it may not be the weekend yet for anyone else. How long a writing period do you generally prefer? I could possibly stretch that, and ask you to aim to upload your story the weekend before the due date. But yeah, I'll think about it.

Date: 2014-01-02 09:18 pm (UTC)I would offer/request fic, and I would prefer the anon period was still there.
