The creator names have been revealed on Jukebox 2016 works.

Thank you very much to everyone for taking part! Thank you particularly to hhertzof, Measured_Words, and Nary, for tag wrangling, to lalalalalawhy, Measured_Words, merryghoul, Missy, Sumi, thedevilchicken, and Zdenka, for pinch hitting, and to lanalucy and within_a_dream for offering to beta read.

There was a short anon period this year; works have really only been available for a brief time. Although the year's challenge is over, I know I haven't seen everything that interests me yet, and I hope others will continue to view and/or comment along with me.

( More thoughts on rules and organisation - feedback welcome! )

ETA: I will probably have 6 or 7 nominations per person next year instead of 8 - I think people enjoyed 8, but it's more work for me and matching was not as close as in previous years. I will also probably start the exchange sliiiightly earlier, offline commitments permitting, as Easter is much later in 2017 so I won't be planning around it.

I'm impressed at the number of works submitted already. People still working, you (we) can do it!

If you see a hit on your work, it is because I am checking which songs have works, so that AO3 staff can look out for them to wrangle. I may check for completeness, but if I do, I won't do that until a few hours before works are revealed. I would appreciate if anything you uploaded was a rough draft at worst (no placeholder text, please) but I'm not going to police that.

People default for many reasons; you don't need to let me know yours. I am concerned only with where pinch hits are needed.

However, I hope that applies to very few people, and that most participants are either done, nearly done, or convinced they will be very soon be nearly done. ^!^ (I am in the latter category.)

*This works both for assignments and treats. If you are posting your assignment, look for the question on the form, under Associations, that says "Does this fulfil a challenge assignment?" and enter a tick for the appropriate assignment. If you have previously posted an AO3 assignment and are familiar with the procedure, use the method you prefer! You can continue to edit your work at any time after posting it.

There may be an issue with new fandoms being wrangled so that they appear on the fandoms page of the collection while works are still unrevealed and/or anonymous. I'm looking into it and will let you know what I know.

There are no initial pinch hits. Quite a few people could only match to one recipient, or to one writer, but you could all match to SOMEONE, in both directions, so thank you all for keeping an eye on the sign-up summary and making sure this was so.

I hope you enjoy your assignment! It should be visible at your account on archiveofourown.org, and it will have been emailed to the email associated with your AO3 account if you have this kind of email enabled. You can also see it on the collection sidebar, when logged in.

The majority of offers and requests concern fanfic. If you want to sign up offering mostly podfic or art, feel free to ask me (jukebox.mod@gmail.com) about which canons in the sign-up summary have podfic or art requests, and I will give you as accurate an answer as I can at the time.

If you are working on a letter, please complete it by the end of 10 April in your time zone. Assignments should go out at some point between sign-ups closing and 8 April. Usually, Jukebox assignments go out very soon after sign-ups close - if there is a reason for an unusual delay, I'll let you know.

If you have chosen to write a letter to the person or people who will create gifts for you, please link it here or at the equivalent post on LJ. (Or put the whole letter in a comment, if you don't have another space to post it.)

Letters are optional! You don't have to write a letter. However, if you do, please complete it by the end of 10 April in your timezone, so that your assigned creator can see it as soon as possible after getting their assignment. Letters are also a way of encouraging people to offer the things you're requesting.

When commenting with your letter, please include:
-your AO3 name
-the link
-the musical pieces you're asking for
-the media you're asking for, for each song (podfic, fanart, fanfic).

2016 Sign-Ups are Open

Here is the sign-up form. Welcome to this year's challenge! Sign-ups will close at 11:59PM EDT 6 April (see what time that is for you).

Please skim the rules and schedule before signing up. The rules are a little different every year.

You can request 3-8 canons, and offer 3-10 canons. If a canon doesn't appear in the drop-down menu when you go to enter it, you can copy and paste it from the tag set and press enter.

Each of your requests and offers must be tagged with 1-3 of the labels "Fanfic", "Podfic", and "Fanart".

If you wish to offer podfic and you want to team up with someone else for writing or recording, you can indicate your interest at this Dreamwidth post or this LiveJournal post.

Your requests have a space for optional details. Your gift creator doesn't have to follow your prompts. They do have to respect any Do-Not-Wants (like "no pregnancy" "no scat" "no rainbows").

Your requests also have a space for a letter link, if you want to provide one. I will put up letter posts shortly. If you are writing a letter, please have it complete and unlocked by the end of 10 April.

I will make requests visible on AO3 when the assignments go out - they are set to not-visible for now.

An ineligible canon
It seems I approved Dvořák's New World Symphony and I shouldn't have - that is too long. Sorry. I am removing it from the tag set and the tables, but if the nominator wishes to make an argument that a single movement stands on its own sufficiently, I'll put it back in. Jukebox pieces need to be 20 minutes or shorter.

Tables of All 2016 Canons

Finally! Again, I'm sorry for the delay - thank you for your patience. Under the first cut: musical pieces ordered by title; under the second cut: musical pieces ordered by artist. Title order is nice and pretty and ignores "the" and "a"; artist order is quick and dirty and automated.

There are no warnings on the music videos or lyrics. If you need them, please ask, or if you want to provide any of your own accord, go ahead, but for now, please just be aware that I have not attempted to categorise or screen any content.

Not all links are to free sources. Generally, if something has only a "Link 2", that will be to a vendor, not a video.

Please let me know of any corrections and I'll try to incorporate them as soon as possible.

A sign-up post will go up within 8 hours.

Podfic Team-Up (and nominations are now closed)

While I'm working on data entry...

This year there is an option to offer podfic, and to create both a text and a recording for a gift.

In case anyone would like to team up with another participant to either write or record, perhaps you can indicate your interest on this post, or the equivalent LiveJournal post. If discussing the specifics of what you're offering, please keep that to PM or email or similar rather than public comments.

If you put podfic in your offers and are assigned it, you have primary responsibility (an assignment can only be assigned to one AO3 account unless I do weird things with matching I don't really want to do). Also, I cannot myself guarantee you a writing or a recording partner, or vouch for people, since podfic is mostly a mystery to me.

However, as a moderator, I will try to help if you let me know of problems.

If you do decide to create podfic for an assignment and to work with a partner, I'd appreciate you letting me know who is on your team and having a way to contact them.

1. My brother my enemy - Sassafrass Singers (Song)
-What kinds of requests do you envisage? I am not sure a Norse mythology request based on this song is completely within the aims of this challenge, but I'm willing to be convinced.

2. Duran Duran (Music Videos)
-This is too broad. Please nominate single music videos, separately.

I am assuming that Gloria (Song) and Who Wants to Live Forever (Song) refer to the Them and Queen versions respectively. I will approve Rainbow Connection.

Thank you especially to people who have submitted links along with their nominations - this makes the following data entry task a lot faster and helps ensure that I can get the tables up before the end of my long weekend.

I'm a little stuck on two nominated pieces. Could the nominator please get in touch with me, either by commenting here or by emailing jukebox.mod@gmail.com ?

1. Rainbow Connection - Various (Song)

Is this a specific medley version with various artists, or do you mean you don't care which cover you get? (A specific version is preferred, but negotiable.)

2. My brother my enemy - Sassafrass Singers (Song)

I love the lyrics, but I'm not sure this song stands on its own and can be understood without further knowledge of Norse mythology. Nominator, what did you have in mind? Other people are welcome to chime in - this doesn't seem like a hard-and-fast case to me.

PS - If you nominate something with just its title and artist, I'm going to assume you mean (Song) and will approve accordingly. Please let me know if your nomination goes through in a form you did not intend.
