2025 Sign-Ups

Here is the sign-up form. Welcome to this year's challenge! Sign-ups will close at 11:59pm EDT, Sunday 11 May.

You can request 3-10 canons, and offer 3-10 canons. If a canon doesn't appear in the drop-down menu when you go to enter it, you can copy and paste it from the tag set and press enter.

Each of your requests and offers must be tagged with 1-3 of the labels "Fanfiction", "Podfic", and "Fanart".

Your requests have a space for optional details. Go ahead and use them to talk about how you understand the song and what kind of art/fic/podfic you might like. However, your gift creator doesn't have to follow your prompts. They do have to respect clear and specific Do-Not-Wants listed in the sign-up (like "no pregnancy" "no scat" "no rainbows").

If you are requesting Podficcer's Choice of Fandom, it's up to a podfic artist what work they choose to record, though you are welcome to include likes and DNWs to inspire their choice.

Your requests have a space for a letter link, if you want to provide one. This link must be included before sign-ups are closed. If you are writing a letter, please have it complete and unlocked by the end of 12 May.

Opting in to treats: Please state if your AO3 preferences are set to allow you to receive treats or if you have this setting disabled. Include a statement in your optional details like Treats welcome or I have opted in to treats (or Treats disabled if true).

Podfic offering options

If you are offering podfic for a song or music video in the tag set, you are pledging to create both text and recording (500-5000 words). You are welcome to team up with a friend to create a work, whether you're the recording artist or the writer, but if that's what you intend, please contact us at jukebox.mod@gmail.com to let us know of the arrangement and to provide a contact email for your friend.

If you are offering podfic in combination with "Podficcer's Choice of Fandom", you are pledging to create a recording of a pre-existing song/MV fanwork, using your recipient's DNWs and general likes as guidance for your story choice. If this is the only thing you wish to match on, please say so in the Notes to Mods field so we don't accidentally send you a request where you have to write a story as well. Please make sure we can get in contact with you - ie, do you use the email account associated with your AO3 account? If not, please email us directly (jukebox.mod@gmail.com).

Notes to Mod in Offers

These are confidential notes where you can tell the mods (Minutia_R and Morbane) if you want to match in specific ways - for example, if you want to match on one request more than the others, or want to be assigned a recipient who has a letter. If you are a podfic artist who has to offer 3 fandoms but only wants to match on Podficcer's Choice of Fandom, please use Notes to Mods to say so. Hi there! We've still got a few days left of nominations (they close on 27 April 2025 11:59pm EDT); thanks to everyone who has nominated so far. Your mod team has a couple of questions and comments at this point.

To the nominator of Satisfied—do you have a specific version or performance in mind, or would you rather leave it as a general tag?

We've caught a couple of incidents where we incorrectly rejected a nomination. (Sorry!) If you have made a nomination that you think should have been accepted but you don't see it in the tag set, please comment on this post or get in touch with the mod team.

Also, if you commented with your songs/videos on the nominations post, please make sure that you also nominated them on AO3, or else they won't be in the tag set.

This year, we received a number of nominations of short videos that combined both music and dialogue. We've decided to accept them into the exchange this year, but going forward, we're considering a rule that any video has to be at least 50% music by runtime in order to be accepted. What do you think?

Hey there, DJs, listeners, and creators of all sorts! Creator names are now revealed at the Jukebox 2024 collection.

Thank you from us mods to everyone who prompted or promoted or perused or took pinch hits, everyone who created or commented, and everyone who took part in other ways such as offering beta services.

You are now welcome to talk about what you made. Although we ask participants not to remove gifts, you are welcome to post your work to other platforms now that the anonymous period is over. On the recipient side, you may want to download and save gifts.

If you have any feedback on this round, please feel free to share it. The collection remains open for late treats. I (mod Minutia) had a great time as usual, and I hope you all did too!

New comment default settings
When carrying out final checks on your work, please make sure the comment settings are what you want them to be. AO3 has made a recent change to the default setting selected when users post works. Previously, the default setting allowed both guests and logged-in users to comment on your work. That has changed. Now, when you post a new work, the option that is selected by default is the one that prevents guest commenting.

If you want guests to be able to comment on your work, make sure the top option ("Registered users and guests can comment") is selected. If you prefer to restrict commenting to AO3 users with accounts, the middle option ("Only registered users can comment") is correct.

In recent years, AO3 has implemented a blocking feature - see AO3 news posts here, here, and here. This does not affect challenge matching, ie, someone you've blocked can still match to you. So if you have another participant blocked or they have blocked you, please use your offers and requests, your notes to mods, or both, to help us help you avoid interactions with them.

Corrections are still welcome to the tables of sources for all canons (at this post) - and we're still seeking information about two songs, but we'd be happy to add them to the tag set if we get further information.

Please enjoy the tables of all nominated songs - corrections welcome. Thanks for the links that contributed to this list! We have outstanding queries about songs called Allies with Benefits and Sorry-Grateful, so these are not yet included. Please comment if you have information about those, or corrections to the tables.

An asterisk* by a song or music video indicates a specific warning - see bottom of page. However, unmarked songs or videos may contain anything, as warnings are optional.
